On The Road Again

Parent's Weekend at Embry Riddle Prescott, Arizona

On Friday October 18th, we flew to Phoenix and then drove up to Prescott to visit Dylan for Parent's weekend.  It was great to see Dylan in his "home away from home."  We went to his favorite restaurant, explored the surrounding area, made a trip to CostCo and just enjoyed being together.  We are looking forward to seeing him at home over Thanksgiving weekend.

Kevin and “Billie the Goat”
No trip to Annapolis is complete with out some steamers!
On Thursday October 24th we headed out to Annapolis for Kevin's  class reunion.  We took advantage of the one sunny day and toured around campus, visited the Midstore and watched the final dress parade of the season.

Miles & JD say parades are much more fun sitting in the stands
Great day for a parade, 19 gun salute and sailboats in the Severn River behind the parade field

Breakfast with Miles outside at O'Brien's complete with a toast to the "good 'ole days"

Great weekend visiting with classmates, telling stories,  catching up and planning fishing trips to Alaska, hunting trips to Wyoming, comedy nights in LA and the next reunion.

Weekend at Bernie's....well almost.  Bernie Allman, another classmate from USNA couldn't make it to the reunion, something about a conflict with his daughter's wedding.... but he stopped by and visited us at Craig on his way to the wedding.  It was really fun catching up with Bernie and his family and we're looking forward to seeing them back in SoCal.

Blame it on the Weather

It's finally snowing here in Colorado and we're stuck inside, so why not update the blog?!?  Many of you have asked "when are you going to update the blog?" so hang on, this will be a long one.  The Sparknotes version is...we had a wonderful holiday season traveling to California for both Thanksgiving and Christmas and then back to Colorado to continue to focus on Kevin's rehab.  In between we're getting back to the "real life" as best we can traveling and spending time with our kids. Thanksgiving 2019 Home sweet home!  We traveled to California for Thanksgiving.  Kevin was happy to be in his own home for the first time since August 1st.  We were greeted by a beautiful "Welcome Home" banner courtesy of our wonderful friends and neighbors.  All three kids and Sinna were home to celebrate Thanksgiving.  We feasted on all the traditional Thanksgiving dishes, sharing the day with the Schnebles, Fators, Haneys and Marie Astrup. Labor Day

Jenn & Jean came to visit Kevin spent the morning with two colleagues from Health Advocate, Jenn and Jean.  We all enjoyed a super-fantastic homemade peach pie from Jenn’s grandmother 's recipe.  Jenn was also celebrating her largest ever sale while at Health Advocate. Meanwhile our amazing neighborhood in Irvine had a "pot party" in our yard.  It was bring your own pot and take some succulent cuttings from our yard.  Look at the beautiful arrangements they made while maintaining our yard.  Thanks to all who helped!

Rain & Visitors!

Sorry these updates are a little out of order.   On Sunday September 8th, we sat outside watching the pouring rain and hail.  Only the people from California will understand why....we never see this kind of rain or hail.  Kim Morse came to visit for dinner on Sunday and then again on Tuesday Sept 10. Carolyn arrived on Monday September 9th.  Kevin enjoyed introducing Carolyn to the nursing staff and all his therapists.  They enjoyed Turkish food with Jess and Kim and Thai food with Sean and Jenn. It's raining, it's pouring!!! Rain is so cool! It's raining out so, we had pizza with Kim in the lobby Jess Dallas' friend Jenny works in the PEAK gym at Craig and was looking for him...small, small world! Kim Morse, Jess Dallas, Carolyn & Kevin enjoying Turkish food No question where her curly hair and smile come from....happy to see each other!
